To the left is a recent picture of Ron Arendas, the Water Safety Guy.... Do I look tired? Nothing could be further from the truth!

Ron in 1974 as a WSISure I get more exhausted teaching Lifeguarding, WSI, and water safety courses today than I did 10 years ago, but I still  love this work...teaching, researching, writing, developing courses/presentations....

A Brief Aquatics/Safety Resume

  • A swimming pool lifeguard/swimming instructor from 1973-1974, 1977, 1985, and 1990-1992
  • A head lifeguard in 1978 and from 1992-1995

  • 36 years as an American Red Cross WSI
  • 36 years training lifeguards
  • 31 years teaching first aid and CPR courses
  • 30 years as an American Red Cross WSIT
  • 25 years as a American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor-Trainer
  • 12 years as an Authorized Provider of American Red Cross Health & Safety Courses
  • 6 years as a State of California Health & Safety Specialist for the American Red Cross
  • 4 years as the Health & Safety Chair for the Greater Long Beach Red Cross

  • Member of the National Faculty for the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Program, 1995
