Title 22 First Aid |
What Is Title 22 First Aid?"Title 22 first aid" is a first aid and CPR course of instruction required for California public safety personnel (i.e., fire fighters, peace officers, and lifeguards). The requirements for Title 22 first aid can be found in the California Code of Regulations, Division 9, Chapter 1.5, Articles 1–4, Sections 100005–100028. It calls for 6 hours of CPR and 15 hours of specific first aid information and skills. This has been a requirement in California since 1987. |
Do You Need It?
Section 100010 of the regulation states:
"'Lifeguard' means any regularly employed and paid officer, employee, or member of an aquatic safety department or marine safety agency of the State of California, or any city, county, city and county, district or other public or municipal corporation or political subdivision of California."
Read the above paragraph carefully to determine if the regulation applies to your operation.
How Can You Get It?
Let Water Safety Guy assist you in providing Title 22 First Aid to your staff. There are 3 options:
- We Come to You. If you have no one to teach this program, we can provide you with a proposal for delivering the course to your lifeguarding staff.
- We Exchange Services. Allow us to teach a Lifeguarding, LGI, or WSI course at your facility, and we will provide Title 22 instruction to your staff at cost.
- We Provide Make-up Instruction. If you are a lifeguard who missed your agency's Title 22 instruction, we will give classes to small groups of 2 or more.
